If it looks fuzzy, grainy, unintentionally blurry or just plain bad, save our mutual time and don't submit it! An unprofessional design stands very little chance of being approved.
Please keep in mind that the end use of most designs sold on Flyerstarter is in print. Please adhere to common graphics standards when creating your files. For flyer designs, add 1 CM bleed (crop marks) on the top layer of the design.
The easier you make it for your clients, the more likely they will come back to Flyerstarter and buy more of your designs.
This bleed area of your design is outside the final cut of the printed version. During a typical printing process flyers are typically not always cut out exactly on the edges, so the bleed will allow the printer to be able to guarantee that the end customers printed piece will be finished as they envisioned.
The red lines on the following example indicate a typical bleed placement:
You can accomplish the bleed creation by either using a single-pixel line on the top layer, or (better) using the Guides feature of Illustrator.
We only accept raw .EPS file(s): fonts used in the design are not resold by us, as this infringes on the copyright of the font designers 99% of the time. If the end client needs the font, they must locate and buy it/download it from a font vendor. Do not embed any fonts or your file may be rejected.
If your design was created for a previous client, please remove all their individual texts and logos from the design. The best option is to replace it with a fictitious event or latin ipsum lorem.
Please do not include 'Flyerstarter, DJ Flyerstarter, Flyerstarter Event', as this gets a little bit much after someone has browsed through 20 designs using this filler. A little bit of variety in your filler text might be the spark that inspires someone to buy your design. Remember, we want to sell art that fits their context, not ours.
REMEMBER: All designs that include photos depicting recognizable faces MUST be accompanied by a MODEL RELEASE FORM. Please upload the releases using the model release uploader on this page.
If you send us files where we can make out a face, crowd shot or not, and do not send us a copy of your signed model release form, we will under no circumstances publish the design! You must be the creator and/or have reseller rights to any photos or images featured in you submitted designs.
Keywords
When you enter your own keywords, they will show up on the product page under 'Artist's Tags'. These keywords will also go into strategic locations on your product page that will help search engines such as Google find them.
Keywording is extremely important to helping your art become marketable, as it is the number one way people will find your art. As the number of files in the Flyerstarter inventory grows, it becomes more like a search engine; often people don't have the patience to browse past the first few pages of search results.
Choosing 20 effective, descriptive keywords/keyphrases for each of your files will magnify their probability of them being found and purchased enormously. The words you choose should be an effective balance between a literal, objective description of the art, and using words that people will be likely to use.
We also suggest the following excellent free services to brainstorm keyword ideas, and, perhaps more importantly, see exactly what phrases people are looking for:
- Digital Point Keyword Suggestion Tool - Just enter the security code one time at beginning, and get access to this great tool, which includes the number of times a particular keyword has actually been searched for on average.
- Google Keyword Sandbox - Keyword brainstorming area for people using Google Ads, it is available to the public as well. While it does not show the exact number of times a particular keyword or phrease has been searched, it is nonetheless very useful data.
- Wordtracker - Wordtracker offers a database of 340 million search queries from which you can query to build keywords.
